The Labour Party LP and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi have opened their case by calling their first witness before the Presidential Election Petition Court PEPC sitting in Abuja.

Before the witness was called to testify,
the Petitioners through their counsel tendered to the court documents certified by the Independent National Electoral Commission which were not objected by INEC Counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud.

But the documents relating to the alleged forfeiture of money in the United States of America by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu was objected by his counsel Wole Olanipekun.

Olanipekun noted that the reason for his objection will be made known at the later stage of the case.

The five-man panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani admitted the documents tendered by Obi and his party as exhibits against the respondents.

Led in evidence by Obi counsel, Jubrin Okutepa, the witness, Lawrence Nnanna affirmed that the oath he took on the testimony was nothing but the truth.

During a cross examination by the counsel for INEC, the witness told the court that he voted in his ward in Ihiala, Anambra State.

Answering questions from Olanipekun on the forfeiting of money in the US by Tinubu, the witness admitted that he was only aware of certification of the conviction in the US but not aware of the certification in the US consulate in Nigeria.

Further hearing in the matter has been adjourned till May 31 for Obi and his party to call more witnesses.
