FG Assures Expatriate, Foreign Investors of Safety At All Times – NIS Rivers Command.

The Nigeria Immigration Service has assured expatriates and foreign investors in Rivers State of their safety through the electioneering period.

The Comptroller of Immigration Service, Rivers State Command, James Sunday, gave the assurance in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASI1 Chukwuemeka Nwosu.

According to the statement, Mr. James while addressing the business community through a media chat said “the role of the Nigeria Immigration Service as facilitators of residency, expatriate and work permits for Non Nigerians, especially those on expatriate quota and resident permit, special immigrant status(SIS) that is Non Nigerians male married to Nigerian Women and who must qualified by relevant provisions for such status and are doing legitimate businesses or engagements to feel at home and continue their businesses to improve the economy and increase gainful employments for qualified Nigerians mostly youths who must have finished their National Service and looking for gainful employments not to shut their doors at them nor deny them employment as far as they have the requisite qualifications.

“The emphasis is on granting them opportunity to learn on the job, by the Understudy provisions as enshrined in the expatriate quota grant provisions that guarantees mandatory understudy programme for each quota positions for the transfer of knowledge,Skills and technology” CIS James noted.

He further reassured the Expatriate Communities in Rivers State of Safety to both their investments and themselves as far as they remain law abiding and compliant with all relevant immigration laws and regulations guiding their legal stay as regular migrants and bonafide investors in Rivers and Nigeria.

Mr. James also assured of an open door policy that guarantees smooth and seamless relationship between the Nigeria Immigration Service, Rivers State Command and the investors and foreign business community in Rivers.
