Despite high expectations given to about 50 million Nigerians who are awaiting to benefit from a foreign grant facilitated by a Non Governmental Organization under the aegis of Theobarth Global Foundation, their fate now lie in the hanging.
This is as a result of failed promises and series of excuses by the link man of the scheme, the Country Director, Theobarth Global Foundation,Theophilus Oluche Ebonyi.
Pressure groups formed by aggrieved beneficiaries have been fighting against the injustice through social media and petitions to relevant agencies and the United Nations among others.
Investigation by Channel Network Afrique, CNA, reveals that assurances by the foundation that the International Grant was at its final stage of processing as well as awaiting the green light from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to be disbursed to the beneficiaries any time soon was not true.
Early January 2022 at a news conference in Nasarawa State, the Country Director of the Theobarth Global Foundation,Theophilus Oluche Ebonyi said the loan was aimed at encouraging Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in order to alleviate the masses’ sufferings.
He also said the foundation as at then had finalised plans with the relevant government authority to ensure that proper procedure is carried out before the smooth disbursement of the grant.
Mr. Ebonyi who used the occasion to dispel alleged rumour that the Foundation received the sum of 900 trillion naira from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for Grant disbursement has only stirred more suspicion to himself.
In spite of this assurances, beneficiaries have lost interest and faith in the international loan scheme especially with its change of name from Theobarth Foundation Grant Scheme to UAAG Grant which has left much to be desired.
