Voters in Enugu State have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BIVAS into the nations electoral process.
Speaking on the credibility of the innovation at Saturdays mock accreditation exercise in Enugu, they said it’s implementation will change the narrative as it relates to the credibility of the 2023 general elections.
They also commended the response time of the BVAS machine, expressing optimism that it would be replicated during the February 25th and March 11th elections.
As expected,the mock exercise was also monitored by representatives of some civil society organisations who also thumps up INEC for a job welldone.
For the Enugu state Resident Electoral Commissioner,Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, reports from across the state indicate that the mock exercise was a success.
He further assured the people of the state of the commitment of INEC to conduct a free, fair and credible election.
The exercise conducted in Six local government councils in the state recorded low turnout of voters in some of the polling units visited by Chanel Network Afrique due to what some person’s attributed to scarcity of the new naira notes and the persistent fuel scarcity.
