World Aids Day: FG Committed To End HIV Epidemic By 2020- SGF

The World AIDS Day is commemorated every 1st of December to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. Data by the National Agency for the Control of AIDs NACA indicates that there are approximately 1.9 million Nigerians with HIV in 2021.

This,the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF Boss Mustapha at a ceremony put together to observe the world AIDS day in Abuja says it’s unacceptable and demands the responsible of everyone to be committed to ending HIV in 2030.

Represented by Mbaeri Nnamdi, the SGF restated the federal government’s resolve to ensure no one infected with. hIV is denied access to treatment.

Earlier on, the Minister of Health , Osagie Ehanire, reeled out various interventions by the federal government including free treatment to positive persons in the country.

Meanwhile, the Director General, National Agency for the Control AIDS(NACA) Gambo Aliyu in his opening remarks narrated how the agency was able to identify over 90 percent of positive persons in the country who are presently on free treatment.

Other stakeholders also took turns to affirm their commitment to eradicating HIV aids by the year 2030.
