19 States Benefit From FG’s RAAMP Initiative- Gov Zulum

The Federal Government has disclosed plans to implement the Rural Access & Agricultural Marketing Project(RAAMP),in rural communities across 19 States of the federation.

The initiative which was launched in Abuja is aimed at improving rural access and agricultural marketing in benefiting states while strengthening the financing and institutional base for effective development, maintenance and management of the rural road network.

President Mohammadu Buhari at the Launching ceremony affirmed that the project is in-line with his administration economic recovery and growth agenda.

Represented by Babagana Zulum, Governor of Borno State, the president said, RAAMP will provide access and connectivity between Agricultural Marketing and production centres.

In his part the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar, reels the milestone achievements of RAAMP and also said that the project will strengthen food security through the sustainable development goals and maintenance of transport infrastructure as well as upgrade of secondary markets in the country.

Meanwhile, stakeholders who commended the initiative took turns to expressed their readiness to offer both financial and technical assistance to the rural road projects.

The project is expected to be jointly financed by the International Development Association (IDA), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the government of participating states of Abia,Kogi, Kaduna,Kano, Ekiti among others.
