World Teachers Day: FG Begins New National Teaching Policy, Promises Teachers Better Welfare

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has disclosed that the national implementation of the new national teaching policy has commenced in the country.

Adamu who disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja also reeled out activities for the 2022 world Teachers day commemoration. He noted that the New national teaching policy is a holistic package that will address the career path, remuneration, professional teaching standards and management of teachers.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, David Adejo, the minister further stressed on the need for Teachers to be empowered for effective transformation of the Education sector.

Earlier the National President, Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comrade Audu Amba stated that the 2022 World Teachers Day has its theme as “The Transformation of Education begins with Teachers”.

He highlighted the critical role teachers are expected to play in transforming and shaping the future of Education amidst growing societal needs and challenges of the 21st Century.

Part of the activities reeled out to commemorate the day includes the nomination of Teachers who will compete for different categories, Symposium for a comprehensive exposition of the theme and the grand finale on 5th October, 2022.
