The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has assured Nigerians that the comprehensive register of wards,local councils will be displayed nationwide before the 2023 general elections.
INEC chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu gave the indication at the validation of the revised framework and regulations for voting by internally displaced person’s in Abuja. Yakubu who was reacting statement credited to Civil society organisations accusing the INEC of failure to displace the voters register said a date for the publication of the comprehensive register will be announced soon. He further applauded the the validation of the revised framework and regulations for voting of IDPs saying it is critical to efforts to ensure no eligible Nigerian is left out of the 2023 general election.
Meanwhile,Dr Baba Bila who presented the overview of the IDP framework said the gesture is targeted at addressing the growing population of IDPs estimated at over 3million as well as ensuring they are carried along in the 2023 elections.
Other speakers gave their perspective on the validation workshop.
The framework when reviewed is expected to drive IDP voting operations for the 2023 general election.
