The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), says 5 suspected foreign bandits have been arrested by it’s troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI at Jibia in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Former Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Bernard Onyeuko who disclosed this at the biweekly media briefing on operational activities of the Armed forces and other security agencies across the country from 28 July to 11 August, 2022, said the feat was achieved through sustained operational activities to clear bandits and terrorists enclaves.
General Onyeuko stated that the suspected foreign bandits were by the military while on routine patrol. He also disclosed how a notorious bandit informant who has been on the tracking list of the Department of State Security for collaborating with bandits on numerous attacks in Sabon Brini general area of Sokoto State was also arrested.
Other highlights of the troops engagement in Katsina- state includes elimination of a notorious terrorist alongside 27 of his foot soldiers at Rudu forest in the north west State.
The activities of troops of Operation Delta Safe in the South south region was also captured in the briefing as their onslaught against oil bunkering led to the arrest of two high profile sea pirates among others.
According to Onyeuko, 29 terrorists were eliminated in the north east zone in the period under review with 19 others killed in North Central Zone. Highlight of the briefing was a short handing over ceremony to Major General Musa Danmadami as the New Director, Defence Media Operations. General Onyeuko in a recent Army reshufflement was deplored to Procurement department, Defence Headquarters as Director.
