The National Population Commission NPC says the on going trial census will hold in one Local Government Area across the six geo-political zones in the country. NPC Chairman, National Population Commission (NPC), Hon Nasir Isa Kwarra, made the disclosure at a briefing in Abuja.
He said the exercise is aimed at testing all aspects of census operations, from planning to implementation including logistics arrangement and management, questionnaire design and format, training procedures, fieldwork operations, publicity, payment system, data processing, data tabulations and analysis.
The NPC boss also highlighted activities lined up for the exercise which will run from 27th June to 30th July 2022.
Kwarra further explained reasons that informed the selection of local government councils and Enumeration areas for the exercise.
The Commission however clarified that the outcome of the exercise and data generated will not be used to arrive at figures for the 2023 census.
