The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC says over 84 million Nigerians are presently captured in the nations voters register ahead the 2023 general elections.
INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said this when a delegation from the the United Nations General Secretary, led by the Special Representative to West Africa and the Sahel, Annadiff Saleh paid a working visit to the commissions headquarters in Abuja.
The INEC boss who commended the world body for it’s special interest in Nigeria’s electoral process assured of commitment to ensure that next year’s general election is free,fair, credible and transparent.
Prof Yakubu further said the commission will leave no stone unturned to ensure the outcome of the election reflects the wishes of the Nigerian electorates.
Earlier in his remarks,the leader of the delegation, Annadiff Saleh who spoke through an interpreter commended INEC for work done so far saying the world body is committed to a peaceful electioneering process in Nigeria The meeting further went into a close door session where other vital matters of interest as it relates to the 2023 election are expected to be discussed.
