The inter Party Advisory Council IPAC, has called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the Electoral Offences Commission bill.
This is as IPAC want president Buhari to assent to the bill before the 2023 general elections. IPAC Chairman, Engr Yabaji Sani gave the indication at a news conference in Abuja.
Expressing concerns over the trend of vote buying, electoral malpractices and voter apathy that characterised the conduct of the poll, the council however questioned the legality of the process leading to the declaration of the Governorship candidate of the App Progressive Congress APC Biodun Oyebanji as the winner.
To change the narrative and ensure a more credible next month Osun Governorship election, IPAC called on the police authorities to ensure those arrested for vote buying are lawfully prosecuted.
The council further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to evaluate it’s performance in the just concluded election saying the gesture will restore confidence of the electorate and ensure massive turnout in subsequent elections.
