The International Workers day, a day set aside to honour and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of labourers and workers world over might have come and gone but not without reactions from some of the workers.
Speaking with news men at the sideline of the celebration at the Eagles Square in Abuja, Chairman of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Workers Union, Ben Achor attributed the present economic diversification agenda of the government as the only way to free the country from depending solely on oil for foreign earnings.
He said non oil export is one of the veritable means to quickly diversify the economy from its monolithic nature of oil dependence to a non oil exporting country.
He also spoke on the export facilities made available by the Central Bank of Nigeria and Nigerian Import and Export Bank to enable exporters access in order to boost their operation which regrettably has not been dully utilized due to lack of information on how to access it.
The NEPC Union leader further noted that no meaningful growth would be achieved until the country’s export is commensurate with its import.
