The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has commended the Federal Government’s introduction of monthly revenue dashboards aimed at enhancing transparency in income and expenditure across the three tiers of government.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly reduce corruption and strengthen public accountability.

According to TMV, the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Finance, has adopted the dashboard template to monitor and track revenues accruing to federal, state and local governments. The group noted that this follows a presidential executive order freeing additional oil revenues from NNPC Limited, as well as anticipated inflows from the implementation of the new tax law.

TMV said it agreed with the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, that improved government revenues would enable more productive capital deployment.

The group added that it was encouraged by indications that the three tiers of government would prioritise capital expenditure over recurrent spending, particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and other productive sectors, as a way of reducing consumption driven pressures in the economy.

It further stated that higher revenues could help reduce public debt profiles, clear accumulated arrears and stimulate growth enhancing sectors of the economy.

TMV expressed optimism that the introduction of the monthly revenue dashboards would promote greater transparency in public finance management and provide Nigerians with the tools to hold governments accountable for the use of public resources.
