17

The Federal Government has disbursed N98 billion to fast-track the delivery of primary healthcare services across Nigeria, targeting 13,500 centers nationwide.

The funding, released in 2025, represents one of the largest single-year investments in grassroots health delivery in recent history. The initiative aims to enhance national productivity and economic growth by improving medical access for rural and underserved communities.

According to details shared during the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Health Convention and Roundtable in Abuja, the investment will expand the reach of the primary healthcare network to accommodate an additional 5,212 facilities.

Infrastructure Progress

The Tinubu administration’s sector-wide repositioning has already reported significant infrastructural milestones:

  • 2,565 health centres have successfully been upgraded.
  • 1,456 primary health centres are currently undergoing renovation.

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV), in a statement signed by Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe, noted that the deliberate policy of upgrading rural institutions is designed to strengthen the local populace and bolster the national health sector as a cornerstone of development.

The group emphasized that the injection of funds serves as evidence that the administration remains committed to healthcare at the grassroots level, ensuring that quality medical services are not restricted to urban centers.
