The Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, has flagged off the construction of the Abuja Leadership Centre of Excellence in Public Governance at the University of Abuja.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Architect Sonny Echono, performed the foundation stone laying for the project alongside the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, at the project site in Jahi, Abuja.
Echono expressed optimism that the Abuja Leadership Centre would develop into a world-class facility capable of producing leaders for all sectors of the economy, while also serving as a venue for globally renowned lectures, conventions and policy declarations.

The TETFund boss also disclosed plans by the Fund to commission about four hundred and sixty seven projects across tertiary institutions nationwide, describing the move as part of the Federal Government’s renewed hope agenda in the education sector.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Fawehinmi, said the Abuja Leadership Centre would serve as a centre of excellence in public governance and leadership.

Prof Fawehinmi assured that the University would put the facility to optimal use, describing the project as a historic intervention that would leave a lasting legacy.
