Stolen Crude: NNS Soroh Seize 2.5m Litres Crude, 1.86m Litres Diesel

The Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Soroh, has recorded significant strides in its fight against oil theft and other criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.

As parts its significant achievement in the last twelve months, the Navy Ship Soroh in Bayelsa State a maritime component in the Joint Task Force of Operation Delta Safe,
destroyed over one hundred and forty-five illegal refining sites in the last one year.

The Ship also confiscated two million, five hundred litres of crude oil as well as one hundred and eighty-seven million litres of stolen diesel.

Briefing Defence Correspondents led by the Defence Media Operation to the Joint Task Force of Operation Delta Safe area of responsibility in Bayelsa, the Commanding Officer, NNS Soroh, Commodore, Omobamidele Akinbami, said
130 wooden boats, suspected oil thieve, and vandals were arrested.

Defence Correspondent were later ferried on two-gun boats to have first-hand experience of the workings of the maritime components of the Joint Task Force in the protection of strategic oil sites in difficult terrains.

The tour to the oil sites in the Niger Delta creeks terminates at the visit to the NNS Soroh’s floating boat where personnel are camp to respond swiftly to emergency situations in the theatres of operation.
