The President School Debate Nigeria has unveiled plans to organise a democracy debate series to mark the one year anniversary of the President Tinubu led Administration.
National Coordinator of the PSDN, Elder Dare Oritu, who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja said the debate initiative intends to further the Renewed Hope agenda of the present government, especially in the field of Education, Culture and effective National patriotism.
Other benefits of the programme according to Elder Oritu includes encouraging a reading culture among students in the nations basic school system. Stating that the President Schools Debate Nigeria was approved in 2001 by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo as a platform for organising school debate in Nigeria, Oritu listed some of the achievements recorded by Nigerian students at various world schools debating championships.
Some of the PSDN board members in their remarks explained modalities for selection of students from the local government level to the grand finale of the school debate competition.
The debate series which has commenced across the six geopolitical zones is expected to climax at the nations capital, Abuja at a later date in May 2024.
