The Nigeria Police Force says a total of 21,296 criminal suspects were arrested in 2020. Indications from the force further revealed that 3,347 firearm’s,133,496 ammunition and 960 stolen vehicles were recovered including 1002 kidnap victims rescued and reunited with their families in the year under review. Parading criminal suspects in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank MBA who restated the Force commitment to improve security in 2021, said the Police is more determined to ensure there is no kidding place for criminals. 18 suspects were paraded at the briefing for offences of of armed robbery, Kidnapping, cattle rustling and other crimes. Notable among them is 35 years old Abubakar Umaru who is alleged to be a member of a gang that carried out several kidnap activities along Lokoja Abuja and Abuja Kuduna highways. 8 AK-47 rifles, 1 SMG sterling gun, 236 AK-47 ammunition,2 Toyota Camry cars 2004 and 2014 models were recovered from the suspects. Meanwhile, IGP Mohammed Adamu commended personnel’s of the force for the gesture and called for improved partnership and collaboration between citizens and the police especially in the area of intelligence sharing.
