The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it is collaborating with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to address voters inducement related challenges ahead of the July 16th Osun Governorship election. INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu stated this at a meeting with members of Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security in Abuja.
Prof Yakubu who solicited the support of security agencies to deal with the menace, said the commission will support the EFCC to ensure the prosecution of persons arrested in the recent Ekiti Governorship election.
The INEC boss further raised concerns on the state of security in Osun state. Meanwhile, the National Security Adviser and Co Chair of ICCES , Major General Babagana Mungonu retired, represented by Sanusi Galadima emphasized the need for massive voter education ahead of the polls.
Some of the slated activities leading the Osun Governorship election including the Peace accord by the respective political parties were highlighted by the INEC Chairman.
