Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing reconstruction and expansion of the Abuja–Lokoja highway, describing the project as a critical step toward national integration and development.

Speaking during a brief inspection visit to a section of the project site in Koton-Karfe, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude for what he termed a “timely and strategic intervention,” noting that the road remains one of the most vital corridors connecting Nigeria’s northern and southern regions.

The governor also commended the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for the accelerated progress on the project, saying it reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I want to appreciate Mr. President, our father, for his love for the people of this country, especially those of us in Kogi State. I also thank the Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency Dave Umahi, for the great work being done here,” Ododo said.

He recalled that the road was once considered economically unviable but is now receiving long-overdue attention, thanks to the current administration’s recognition of its national importance.

“This is one of the roads that connect the North and South. It is not just economically viable; it is nationally essential. What you are doing here is part of a great coalition — a coalition of development, unity, and progress under Mr. President,” he added.

Governor Ododo encouraged workers on site to remain focused and view their efforts as a patriotic service to the nation.

“If I can become Governor, you too can rise in your calling. Remain focused. Don’t allow yourselves to be distracted or deceived by selfish and destructive politicians. Keep doing the good work,” he said.

He reaffirmed his support for the APC-led government and urged Nigerians to continue praying for the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
