NUC Grants Licence For New State University In Imo.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted an operational licence to the Imo State Government for the establishment of its fourth state owned university the University of Innovation, Science and Technology, Omuma.
The Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, presented the license to Governor Hope Uzodimma at a brief ceremony held in Abuja.
Prof. Rasheed described the establishment of the university as a bold and strategic initiative that underscores the state government’s commitment to youth empowerment, workforce development, and knowledge-driven economic growth.
In his remarks, Governor Uzodimma said the new institution will focus on expanding digital education and innovation, with the aim of producing graduates who can become entrepreneurs and job creators, rather than job seekers.
With the approval, the University of Innovation, Science and Technology becomes the 70th state university and the 301st university in Nigeria.
