The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the Northern Nigeria Investment and Industrialization Summit.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, NEF spokesperson, Prof. Abubakar Jidere, revealed that the summit is being organized in collaboration with the 19 states of Northern Nigeria and the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC).
According to Prof. Jidere, the summit is strictly non-political and aims to promote sustainable development in the region, create prosperity, open new economic opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s overall economic growth.
Reflecting on the region’s historical role in the nation’s development, Prof. Jidere expressed sadness that the region which once served as a powerhouse of the Nigerian economy, is now bedevilled with persistent insecurity that has severely hampered its socio-economic progress.
Scheduled for the 29th and 30th of September 2025, the summit is expected to serve as a strategic platform to launch a deliberate and patriotic agenda aimed at revitalizing Northern Nigeria’s economic landscape.
