The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for the swift arrest of the suspected mastermind behind the recent massacre in Yeletawa, Benue State, which claimed several lives and led to the destruction of properties.
In a statement issued in Abuja by Paul Odenyi, Deputy Director of Communication & Media, the Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the arrest as a testament to the unwavering commitment of security agencies to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians. He noted that the prompt action has brought a sense of relief to the affected communities and the nation at large.
Issa-Onilu expressed his deep appreciation for the tireless efforts of the security agencies in maintaining law and order, stressing that the arrest would serve as a deterrent to those planning similar heinous crimes.
Reaffirming the Agency’s dedication to national security engagement, Issa-Onilu highlighted the Nigerian Promise within the National Values Charter, which places peace and security among the fundamental commitments leaders owe the people. He stated that the arrest of the massacre’s suspected mastermind is a fulfillment of this promise.
He further recalled that President Bola Tinubu, during a recent visit to Benue State, had directed security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killings. He praised their prompt and effective response, which led to the suspect’s arrest.
Issa-Onilu also commended the synergy and collaboration among the various security agencies, describing it as a key factor in the successful outcome. He emphasized that such cooperation is critical in addressing the complex security challenges confronting the nation.
The NOA Director-General called on Nigerians to continue supporting the efforts of security agencies, particularly by providing accurate and timely information that can aid their operations.
He reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to promoting unity, patriotism, and national integration, urging citizens to join hands in fostering a culture of peace and peaceful coexistence across the country.
