The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have announced a strategic partnership to launch a nationwide sensitization campaign aimed at combating cybercrime and promoting financial integrity among Nigerians.

In a statement issued in Abuja by Paul Odenyi, the collaboration is described as a proactive response to the growing threat of virtual asset and investment fraud across the country.

Speaking at a public lecture organized by the EFCC to commemorate the African Union Anti-Corruption Day, NOA Director-General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu unveiled plans to roll out a comprehensive Digital Awareness Campaign. The campaign will initially target strategically selected states identified through key vulnerability indicators, including the prevalence of investment fraud, youth population density, and exposure to digital risks.

Issa-Onilu also announced a youth-focused component of the campaign, designed to instill ethical entrepreneurship, promote financial responsibility, and empower young Nigerians to make informed choices—particularly those at risk of falling for online scams and get-rich-quick schemes.

Reaffirming NOA’s broader commitment to fighting societal crimes, he highlighted the agency’s AI-powered platform, CLHEEAN, which enables citizens to report crime-related information anonymously. Reports submitted via the platform are directed to the appropriate security agencies for swift action.

In his remarks, EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede emphasized the Commission’s long-standing partnership with NOA, particularly in the area of public enlightenment on government initiatives and anti-corruption campaigns. He called on Nigerians to actively support law enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat financial crimes.

The event also featured participation from key stakeholders, including the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama; the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji; representatives of the Women Society of Nigeria; and various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
