NIMC Issues Advisory On NIN Self-Service Modification Portal Access And Unlinking Process.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued an important advisory to guide Nigerians using its self-service modification portal for updates to their National Identification Number (NIN) data.
In a statement released in Abuja by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of the Corporate Communications Unit, NIMC outlined critical access and security procedures that users must follow to avoid service disruption.
Device and Browser Restrictions.
NIMC emphasized that each self-service account is uniquely tied to the browser and device used during the initial registration. As such, users can only access the portal from that same browser on the same device.
The statement highlighted that any attempt to log in from a different browser or device may result in access issues.
Cache Clearing May Lock Account.
The Commission also warned users against clearing their browser cache, noting that doing so may reset essential settings and lead to account lockout. In such cases, an unlinking process would be required to restore access.
Unlock Attempt Limit
NIMC stated that users are allowed a maximum of five (5) unlock attempts. Once this limit is reached, no further unlock requests will be processed.
These measures, according to the Commission, are aimed at protecting user data and preventing unauthorized access to the NIN self-service portal.
NIMC urged all users to carefully follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure experience on the platform.
