Natasha’s Recall: Group Warns Against Protests By CSOs, Threatens Sanctions.
The Federal High Court judgment reinstating Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan continues to generate mixed reactions, with some civil society organizations reportedly planning protests in response to the ruling.
In reaction, the National Civil Society Council of Nigeria (NCSCN) has condemned the planned protests, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and preserving the integrity of democratic institutions.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, NCSCN Executive Director, Blessing Akinlosotu urged all well-meaning Nigerians and civil society actors to remain calm and allow the legal process to run its full course.
The group also warned that any CSO that disregards its directive and proceeds with protests risks facing sanctions.
It will be recalled that Justice Binta Nyako last Friday ordered the immediate recall of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing her suspension as “unduly excessive.” The court also criticized the Senate’s disciplinary process and called for a thorough review of its internal sanctioning procedures.
End.
