NAFRC’s New Chief AVM Ilo Hits the Ground Running with Facility Tour

Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo has officially assumed office as the Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC).

The appointment follows a strategic redeployment of senior officers by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Amao, aimed at enhancing leadership effectiveness and institutional capacity across the Nigerian Air Force.

Focus on Institutional Strengthening

The transition is part of a deliberate effort to align the Armed Forces with the President’s mandate on national security and human capital development. Upon taking command, AVM Ilo conducted a comprehensive familiarization tour of the NAFRC facility to evaluate vocational training programs and infrastructure.

The assessment allowed the new Commandant to identify critical areas for immediate intervention to better support the Centre’s mission: transitioning retiring personnel into productive civilian lives through high-level skill acquisition.

Commandant’s Vision

During his interaction with personnel and staff, AVM Ilo emphasized a leadership style focused on three pillars:

  • Infrastructure: Sustained investment in modern training facilities.
  • Welfare: Improving working conditions for both instructors and trainees.
  • Excellence: Providing a conducive learning environment to ensure course participants are competitive in the post-service labor market.

”Effective leadership and the welfare of our personnel remain critical to enhancing our capacity,” AVM Ilo stated. He reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the NAFRC as a premier institution for human capital development within the Nigerian defense framework.
