NAFDAC Denies FG Directive To Suspend Enforcement On Sachet Alcohol.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismissed as false a publication claiming that the Federal Government directed it to suspend enforcement actions on sachet alcohol and 200ml PET bottle alcoholic products.
In a press statement signed by its Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency described the report as misleading and not reflective of any official communication from the Federal Government.
NAFDAC stated that it operates strictly within its statutory mandate and in line with formally communicated government policies and directives. It stressed that at no time has it received any instruction ordering the suspension of its regulatory or enforcement activities concerning sachet alcohol products.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health, ensuring regulatory compliance, and discharging its responsibilities transparently and in accordance with established laws and due process.
NAFDAC noted that any decision affecting national regulatory actions would be communicated through official government channels.
It urged members of the public, industry stakeholders, and the media to disregard the publication and rely solely on verified information released through NAFDAC’s official platforms and authorised government communication channels.
The agency also cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of creating unnecessary public anxiety, economic uncertainty, or misinterpretation of government policy.
NAFDAC reiterated its resolve to protect public health while promoting economic stability and national interest.
