National Agency for Control of AIDS, NACA, has established desks of intervention for gender violence especially for women living with HIV/AIDS across the 36 states of Nigeria. Representative of NACA Director general, Alex Ogundipe disclosed this at an interactive session with Newsmen in Abuja. Ogundipe who noted that gender violence was on the rise during the covid-19 pandemic, said Women were mostly affected. He further attributed the gesture and other challenges that informed the agency’s partnership with the National Human Rights Commission Speaking earlier, regional director, international community of women living with HIV West Africa, Assumpta Reginald raised concern about stigmatization of people with HIV/AIDS, describing the trend as gender based violence. The Agency however assured of it’s commitment to policies aimed at addressing the worrying trend of feminized epidemic in Nigeria.
