Military Dismantles Terrorist Base In Operation IGBO IDANU I
Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have dismantled a major terrorist stronghold linked to notorious commanders Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu during a high-stakes mission under Operation IGBO IDANU I.
The operation, which targeted a strategic terrorist enclave hidden deep within dense forest and marshland, resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and the complete destruction of the insurgents’ logistics base.
Tactical Execution
Led personally by the Commander of the 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, the troops navigated through difficult terrain, including fallen trees and riverine obstacles. To maintain the element of surprise, the force dismounted from their vehicles and advanced on foot through the challenging landscape.
Military sources confirmed that while the terrorists fled the scene upon sighting the advancing force, the tactical maneuver allowed troops to achieve total operational dominance over the enclave.
Recoveries and Impact
During a thorough exploitation of the captured camp, troops recovered:
- Eight boxes of 7.62 x 54mm link ammunition (containing 250 rounds each).
- One box of high-velocity grenades.
Defense analysts suggest that the seizure of these munitions significantly degrades the network’s ability to launch sustained attacks in the region.
Securing the Region
Following the clearance, the Nigerian Army systematically destroyed the camp to prevent the group from regrouping or reoccupying the site.
The 12 Brigade has since initiated aggressive patrols and sustained offensive operations in the surrounding areas to intercept fleeing elements. In a statement following the raid, the Army reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and neutralizing terrorist hideouts to ensure lasting peace and security for local communities.
