The Democratic Front (TDF) has welcomed Nigeria’s ranking among the top 10 contributors to global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in 2026, as projected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group described the ranking as a strong endorsement of the economic reforms and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to the statement, Nigeria’s position as the sixth largest contributor to global GDP growth in 2026 reflects the country’s economic rebound and underscores the administration’s efforts to position Nigeria as Africa’s first one-trillion-dollar economy.

The group noted that the IMF projection of Nigeria contributing 1.5 per cent to global GDP outperforming Europe’s contribution signals renewed productivity and momentum, particularly in the non oil sector.

TDF said the growing global recognition of Nigeria’s economy highlights the success of President Tinubu’s reforms and the emergence of a new economic model that is drawing international attention as a benchmark for reform driven growth.

The group attributed the development to what it described as a resurgence in non-oil sector activities, which it said are now poised to compete strongly with the traditionally dominant oil sector.

According to TDF, Nigeria’s consistent positive economic trajectory under the current reforms reinforces confidence in the administration’s commitment to building a sustainable one-trillion-dollar economy.

It added that Nigeria’s sixth position among the IMF’s top 10 contributors to global GDP growth in 2026 also affirms the country’s leadership among Africa’s fastest growing economies.

The group urged Nigerians to continue supporting the ongoing economic reforms, noting that sustained public backing would further strengthen growth and development outcomes.
