Just In: Nigeria Senate In Rowdy Session Over Debate On Militarisation Of 2019 Polls

Activities at the nation’s upper legislative house was almost grounded following a motion moved by senator Dino Melaye and seven other lawmakers on alleged militarisation of the 2019 general elections. The motion which divided the house along part lines came up as the red chamber resolved to investigate perceived inconsistent application of the electoral laws by the independent National Electoral Commission in the conduct of the poll. Melaye who condemned the alleged act warned of its consequences on the nation’s democracy.
