On the 8th of October 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Presidential Executive Order 8, also known as the Voluntary Offshore Asset Regularisation Scheme into law. Since then, about 19 million, from the about 70 million economically active Nigerians now pay tax. This, according to the government, is an improvement from its previous 14 million active tax payers. To further build on the achievement in tax collection and payment, the Nigerian government, in collaboration with Swiss Consortium, has unveiled the Voluntary Offshore Asset Regularisation Scheme(VOARS) in Nigeria.
