JAMB Sets Admission Deadlines For Tertiary Institutions, Warns Defaulters
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced deadlines for the conclusion of admissions across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a statement by Jamb Spokesman Dr Fabian Benjamin issued on Friday, all public universities must complete their admission processes by October 31, 2025, while private universities have until November 30, 2025.
Other tertiary institutions, including polytechnics and colleges of education, are required to wrap up admissions no later than December 31, 2025.
The decision was reached at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, chaired by the Minister of Education. The move aims to restore stability to Nigeria’s academic calendar and curb fraudulent admission practices.
JAMB also issued a stern warning to institutions that have not yet submitted their matriculation lists for the 2022 and 2023 admissions, stating that failure to do so will result in the non-approval of future admissions.
Registrar of the Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized that compliance is mandatory.
He directed that public notices be placed in major national newspapers to alert defaulting institutions.
Prof Oloyede also explained that this policy is part of JAMB’s ongoing effort to automate the National Matriculation List via its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
