INEC, NIMC Deepen Collaboration On Voter And NIN Registration.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) are set to strengthen their collaboration to enable Nigerians register as voters and simultaneously enroll for the National Identification Number (NIN).

This development followed a high-level meeting between the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and the Director-General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, held at INEC’s national headquarters in Abuja .

Welcoming the NIMC Director-General, Prof. Yakubu described the collaboration as a “decisive step forward,” noting that while INEC manages the electoral register, NIMC maintains the national identity database.

The INEC Chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to deepening institutional collaboration with NIMC to achieve this long-term goal.

In her remarks, Engr. Coker-Odusote underscored NIMC’s commitment to building a unified identity database for the country.

The goal,the NIMC boss assured is to offer Nigerians particularly those yet to enroll for NIN an opportunity to do so while registering to vote.
