The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)says it is ready for the Continuous voters registration scheduled to commence from Monday 28,June 2021.
To this end, the Commission is deploying 5,346 personnel that will conduct the exercise in 2,673 registration centres nationwide.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said the CVR exercise which will run for a period of one year will be conducted with the use of a new technological innovation known as INEC voter enrolment device (IVED).
He further indicated plans to digitalize the registration process. Prof Yakubu was however quick to allay fears that the online registration process might disenfranchised Nigerians ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The INEC boss further disclosed various approaches adopted for the CVR exercise in view of recent attacks on the Commission facilities.
Highpoint of the briefing was unveiling of the INEC voter enrolment device IVED by Prof Yakubu and other national commissioners.
