Human Rights Lawyer Calls On IGP, Lagos CP To Caution Property Owner
Human rights lawyer and legal practitioner, Dr Maxwell Opara has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jumoh Moshood to call RAO Property Investment limited a company owned by Chief Okoyas and his wife Shade to order over attempt to cause a breakdown of law and order.
He made the call at a news conference in Abuja.
Dr. Opara said the Inspector General of Police recently issued a directive barring Police officers from criminalising as well as involving in civil matters.
The human rights Lawyer, further noted that, since 2021, while the tenancy was running, thugs and some alleged illegal police invaded the property and tried to evict the occupant forcefully, which is against the law as the matter is before an appeal Court of competent jurisdiction in Lagos State.
Meanwhile, Dr. Opara reiterated that, the essence of the appeal, is to prevent the breakdown of law and order that might lead to anarchy.
