Group Raises Concerns Over Vaccine Financing.
A non-governmental Organisation, under the auspices of Vaccine Network for Disease Control has raised concerns over the future of vaccine financing in Nigeria with the exit of funding from the United State agency for international development and diminishing donor support.
This is as Nigeria ranks among countries with the highest number of of zero-dose children in the world.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the Chief Executive, Vaccine Network for Disease Control, Chika Offor said Nigeria stands to lose gains already recorded in the fight to crash maternal, child and neonatal deaths if the government fails to act.
She however advocated for the inclusion of vaccine financing as a first line charge in the national budget.
Other speakers in their remarks emphasized the importance of domestic funding of immunization programs to strengthen the nation’s health system.
They further commented President Tinubu for investing one trillion naira to strengthen the nations primary health care system.
