A non governmental organisation under the aegis of Vaccine Network For Disease Control, has called on the Accountant General of the Federation to immediately approve the release of the #60 Billion naira immunization funds for 2023.
Chief Executive Officer of the group, Chika Offor, who made the appeal at a press conference in Abuja, said #60 Billion out of the #69 Billion approved for the 2023 immunization budget have not been released. Offor clarified that thebprompt release of the funds will help sustain the gains recorded in sector especially as it relates to safeguarding the nation against preventable diseases.
The Group also commended President Bola Tinubu for the increase in this year’s immunization budget.
Meanwhile, the Group questioned the rationale for low level funding of immunization programmes as it affects the emergence of Vaccine preventable diseases among other health risks.
