The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has unveiled Safe Wheel Magazine, a new publication designed to strengthen nationwide road safety awareness and education, as the Corps intensifies efforts to reduce road crashes and fatalities across the country.

The launch event, themed “Renewed Hope for Safer Roads: Driving Safety and Logistics as Catalyst for Economic Development,” brought together stakeholders from government, security agencies, transport unions, technology firms and civil society at the FRSC Sector Command Headquarters in Abuja.

In his address, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the magazine as a vehicle for expanding knowledge, innovation and responsible mobility among the public.

“Mobility drives almost 80 per cent of Nigeria’s economic movement. For Nigeria to grow, the safety of every journey must reflect our collective aspirations for national development,” he said, positioning Safe Wheel Magazine as the foundation of a reimagined national public education strategy on road safety.

With Christmas and New Year travel fast approaching, Mohammed announced enhanced nationwide operations, including increased patrols, improved staff training, smarter intelligence reviews and upgraded logistics capacity. He also highlighted recent FRSC humanitarian outreaches such as free medical missions for drivers at the Babana Gobi Motor Park and praised the organisation’s sports ambassadors, the Safety Shooters and Safety Babes, describing them as symbols of national pride.

FRSC Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, echoed the Corps Marshal’s call for a renewed national safety culture.

“Today, we ignite a national movement for safer roads and a more enlightened public,” he said, noting that FRSC’s long standing leadership in safety communication had been revived under the current Corps Marshal.

Ogungbemide commended Mohammed described by many as “Mr Impact, Mr Humanity, and Mr Movement” for his transformational leadership. He also listed broad institutional alliances supporting the magazine, including NASENI, UBEC, the Nigeria Customs Service, Galaxy Backbone, major transport unions and technology partners.

He described Safe Wheel Magazine as a national advocacy platform, a technical resource, a driver of behavioural change and a repository of the FRSC’s extensive but often unseen efforts.

Speakers at the launch underscored the publication’s role in advancing community education, strengthening Nigeria’s commitment to global safety standards and engaging children in road safety and discipline.

The unveiling, performed by Chairman High Chief Dr. Toe Ekechi, was widely regarded as a major milestone in the nation’s public safety education drive.

The event ended with a collective message that road safety is a shared national responsibility and that Safe Wheel Magazine will play a critical role in driving positive change across Nigeria’s mobility and safety landscape.
