FG, Stakeholders Seek Integration Of Diagnostic Services In Healthcare Delivery.

The Federal Government has called for integration of diagnostics services in the nations healthcare system for better service delivery.

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Iziaq Salako stated this at the National Summit on Diagnostics in Abuja.

The minister who cited the critical role of diagnostics in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system, added that they are vital for the identification, detection, and treatment of diseases, as well as for monitoring outbreaks and improving patient outcomes.

In her welcome remarks, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Health and Social welfare, Daju Kachollom represented by the Director Health Services Department, Dr Jimoh Salaudeen admonished participants to take full advantage of the summit to create a more integrated, innovative and accessible diagnostic ecosystem for all Nigerians.

Delivering the keynote address, the President of the West African Network of National Academies of Science (WANNAS), Oyewale Tomori, reflected on the evolution of laboratory diagnostics in Nigeria, saying results are now available within two to four days, significantly improving patient outcomes.

The summit with the theme “Unlocking Healthcare Value Chains and Improving Universal Health Coverage through Integrated Diagnostics Services, brought together local and international health organisations, laboratory experts, and diagnostics companies who showcased advanced diagnostic machines and tools.
