The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners has expressed worry over the poor implementation of the Urban Regional Planning Law and the lack of adherence to approved master plans in major cities across the country.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners FCT Chapter, Queen Imalue Phillips, who gave the indication at the inauguration ceremony of the FCT leadership of the institute in Abuja, assured of collaboration with the national body to ensure that relevant government authorities adhere to the physical plans and address the operations of unqualified practitioners in the country.
Philips further emphasized the relevance of advocacy in ensuring strict enforcement of urban regional laws in the country.
On the ongoing demolition by the FCTA, Philips said aimed at enforcing order in the capital territory.
In his remarks, a former Permanent Secretary in the FCT, Mr. Olusegun Adekunle, emphasized the importance of professionals supporting the current administration’s initiatives to attract foreign investment into the country.
Other takeaways from the inauguration includes the commitment to rally support for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to reposition the country for sustainable development.
