FCT Police Launch Joint Security Operations, Intensify Patrols, Deployments.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched a comprehensive, intelligence-led security operation aimed at addressing criminal activities and enhancing the safety of residents across the territory.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the move follows recent security concerns, particularly incidents recorded over the past weekend.
As part of the operation, the Command will scale up stop-and-search activities at strategic flashpoints, with a focus on tackling “one-chance” robbery syndicates, acts of vandalism, and the rising threat posed by scavengers operating unlawfully in the territory.
The Command also announced that it will be clamping down on unauthorized individuals using vehicles with diplomatic plate numbers to perpetrate crimes or evade law enforcement.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to avoid driving vehicles with covered number plates, vehicles without number plates, or those bearing only one plate,” SP Adeh stated. “Additionally, individuals using vehicles with tinted windows must ensure they have valid permits. Vehicles found violating these regulations may be subjected to thorough checks, and drivers may experience delays.”
The Command urged residents to cooperate fully with officers on duty, remain law-abiding, and exercise patience as the enhanced security measures are implemented in the interest of public safety.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appeal for the public’s understanding and support,” the statement added.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property and pledged to continue working to ensure the security and well-being of all residents within the territory.
