The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adewale Ajao, has called on grassroots communities to collaborate with security agencies in the fight against crime across the country.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting themed “You Against Crime” in Abuja, Ajao emphasized that the current level of crime in Nigeria cannot be tackled by security agencies alone.
He urged communities to instill moral values and virtues as a means of preventing crime.
Also speaking at the event, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of You Against Crime Tayo Folorunsho stressed the importance of youth engagement in crime fighting through the promotion of local values and cultural practices.
Other stakeholders echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the critical role of community and family values as the foundation for effective crime prevention in Nigeria.
The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the “You Against Crime” initiative, which reinforces the message that fighting crime is a collective responsibility not one that rests solely on the shoulders of security agencies.
