FCT Council Polls: INEC Records 94.4% PVC Collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that more than 1.5 million registered voters have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council election scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

In a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the Commission said that as of the close of PVC collection on February 10, 2026, a total of 1,680,315 voters were registered across the six Area Councils of the FCT.

Out of this figure, 1,587,025 PVCs have been collected, representing an overall collection rate of 94.4 per cent, while 93,290 cards remain uncollected.
A breakdown of the collection by Area Council shows strong performance across the territory. Abaji Area Council recorded 75,517 PVCs collected out of 79,471 registered voters, representing 95.0 per cent. Bwari Area Council had 276,360 PVCs collected from 295,711 registered voters, translating to 93.5 per cent.

In Gwagwalada Area Council, 196,184 PVCs were collected out of 208,057 registered voters, representing 94.3 per cent, while Kuje Area Council recorded 144,109 PVCs collected from 148,286 registered voters, reflecting an impressive 97.2 per cent collection rate.
Kwali Area Council posted 99,774 PVCs collected out of 107,203 registered voters, representing 93.1 per cent, while the Municipal Area Council recorded 795,081 PVCs collected from 841,587 registered voters, representing 94.5 per cent.

At the Registration Area level, several units recorded collection rates exceeding 99 per cent, underscoring strong grassroots participation across the FCT.

INEC commended residents for their responsiveness and cooperation during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and PVC collection exercises, noting that the high turnout demonstrates readiness among citizens to participate in the electoral process.

The Commission reiterated that only duly registered voters in possession of valid PVCs will be eligible to vote on election day. It also assured the public that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a free, fair and credible poll.
