Ahead of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, Dr Barry Avotu has officially joined the race for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship position under the platform of the Labour Party.
Avotu who was at the LP National Secretariat to pick his nomination and expression of interest form, said the desire to run for the chairmanship position was born out of conviction to bring development to the Area council.
He promised inclusive and development driven leadership if elected into office.
Receiving the aspirant, the FCT Labour Party chairman,
Peter Adigwu who debunked claims of internal factions in the party promised a level playing ground for all aspirants.
The meeting was attended by top party chieftains, including ward chairmen in AMAC and other area councils.
