The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, Olusola Odumosu has directed personnel to adopt a renewed sense of commitment and professionalism ahead of the FCT Area Council Elections scheduled for February 21, 2026.

Speaking during a strategic management meeting at the Command’s Headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Odumosu reviewed the achievements of 2025 and outlined the security roadmap for the new year.

In a statement signed by the FCT Spokesperson of the Corps, DSC Monica Ojobi and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA News, the Commandant emphasized that the Corps’ role in the upcoming elections is “non-negotiable,” particularly regarding the protection of INEC staff, voters, and electoral materials.

With the elections less than a month away, the Commandant issued a stern warning to officers to remain neutral and non-partisan.

”The responsibility of protecting INEC staff, sensitive and non-sensitive materials, and the electorates, before, during and after the election is non-negotiable,” Odumosu stated.

He further demanded that officers undergoing training with INEC adhere strictly to standard protocols, noting a “zero-tolerance” policy for corruption or compromise during the polls.

Reflecting on the previous year’s performance, the Commandant credited the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) department for its 24-hour patrols, which led to numerous arrests of vandals.

Despite these successes, Odumosu maintained that the job is far from over.

He urged Divisional Officers and Area Commanders to intensify surveillance and strengthen ties with traditional rulers to bolster intelligence gathering.

”We must refrain from mediocrity and overzealousness, but remain committed to justifying the responsibility bestowed on us by government with improved appetite for results,” he said.

The Commandant also addressed the political climate, appealing to candidates and their supporters to avoid violence.

He warned that any attempts to disrupt the peace would be met with the full “wrath of the law,” asserting that the success of the February election is a priority for the Command.

Mr Odumosu further called on residents to assist security agencies by providing timely information to ensure a hitch-free electoral process.
