ENEX 2021: Nigerians Must De-emphasize On Oil and Focus More On MSMEs – Katagum

After several months of intense planning and consultation, the maiden edition of the long awaited EnjoyNigeria Expo 2021 was declared open by the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador, Mariam Katagum.

The week long event organised to bring together thousands of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has in its menu ‘Taste of Nigeria’, ‘Images of Nigeria’, ‘Experience Nigeria’, ‘Sounds of Nigeria’ and ‘Colours of Nigeria’ to spice as well as showcase the huge potentials inherent in the country.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Katagum called on Nigerians not to dependence more on oil but on Micro Small and Medium Enterprises as oil is gradually becoming obsolete in the international markets.

She said more tariffs and recreational centres need to be built to help in generating internal revenue for the country.

The Minister who emphasised on needs to support and patronize Made-In-Nigeria goods and products said ENEX 2021is a veritable tool to sell the nation’s creative industry to the world.

She also noted that MSMEs being the heart beat of every global economy is a critical sector for the government, that is why partnering with Welcome2Nigeria Project is key to connect with players in the creative industry, the culture and tourism sector to saturate the global market.

The Minister, Ministry of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ifeoma Anyanwutaku while noting that the expo has the potential of promoting unity and national integration said ENEX 2021 will help empower women and youths who are major players in the creative industry.

The Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli who is the Royal Father for Expo, represented by the Makama Karami of Zaria, Alhaji Mohammad Abbas said the event is a unifying factor that brings major stakeholders in the subsector together.

It was the turn of the man of the moment, the initiator of ENEX 2021, Isa Sago to tell how the expo is capable of supporting the Nigerian government’s push to become a major force in the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA.

The theme for the seven-day maiden EnjoyNigeria Expo 2021 is “A Future Assured Through Cultural Creativity”
