Ahead of the Edo, Ondo Governorship elections slated for September 19th and October 10th, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC)has alleged plans to scuttle the polls. According to the Council, the move is being orchestrated by selfish individuals most especially persons linked to political parties deregistered by the independent National Electoral Commission. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, IPAC National Chairman, Dr Leonard Nzenwa condemned the development saying INEC must proceed with the conduct of the elections. The Council further gave indications why the wishes of the people of Edo and Ondo states must be allowed to prevail inline with the schedule and timeframe already outlined by the nation’s electoral umpire. It also supported the decision by INEC to approach the supreme court to determine the conflicting court of Appeal judgements on deregister political parties.
